Past Tasmanian Breastfeeding Projects
By working together since 1996, the Tasmanian Breastfeeding Coalition has successfully received funding and has managed the following breastfeeding projects:
Breastfeeding… Every Drop Counts (2010)
Breastfeeding… Every Drop Counts was an initiative of the Tasmanian Breastfeeding Coalition (TBC), with the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) as sponsoring organisation. The initiative aimed to raise the profile of breastfeeding in Tasmania. Funding was provided by the Tasmanian Early Years Foundation (TEYF).
The key theme for Breastfeeding… Every Drop Counts was the economic importance of breastfeeding, highlighted by the work of Dr Julie Smith, Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Economic Research on Health (ACERH) at the Australian National University (ANU). The initiative encompassed advocacy meetings with key government figures from Treasury and Tasmania Together, a state wide presentation of Dr Smith's work on breastfeeding to health professionals, media presentations and a community event.
